MZ racing was set up to offer an affordable route into road racing. The class is entirely made up of MZ ETZ and TS 250 2 strokes.

The Kingpin Components MZ
Whilst at the Classic TT on the Isle of Man in August 2019 I was told about MZ racing. In October I went to watch a meeting at Brands Hatch and by Christmas I had bought a bike.
I chose to buy a bike that hadn’t been raced in several years and needed a bit of work. Once we got into it we found a lot that needed doing to get it ready to race. The winter was spent getting it ready to go racing and by February 2020 it was ready for me to use is to get my ACU licence. With this done we turned up at our first race meeting at Brands Hatch in March 2020. Just a few weeks later the first Covid lockdown hit and we did very little racing in 2020.
After going back in late 2020 development of the bike has been non-stop. Both the bike, and my riding, have continued to improve over the following seasons. Please read on to see what we have been up to in the racing world…

Front Forks - Shortened MZ forks with Kingpin Components aluminium yokes, heavyweight springs, Kingpin Components made internals to take YSS emulators for damping

Rear Shocks - YSS Duo Rear Shock Absorbers. Meant to fit a Suzuki VX800

Wheels - 17” Suzuki RG125 FUN front and back

Tyres - Moto 3 Dunlop or Bridgestone. Slicks and Wets are used

Front Brake - Brembo 4 pot calliper, modified Kawasaki ZXR400 rotor, Adelin brake lever and master cylinder

Rear Brake - Brembo calliper, Kingpin Components alloy rotor, Kingpin Components thumb brake using Adelin master cylinder

Weight - 95kg with gearbox oil but no fuel

Top speed - About 100mph depending on circuit and wind
Work on the MZ is ongoing and I plan to update this section once we have finished preparing the bike for the 2025 race season, which starts at Brands Hatch in March. In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the bike in use!
